Cashew

Cashew is a gentle boy and because he was born deaf; the world can sometimes feel a little surprising to him but once he knows he’s safe, his sweet personality shines right through. He may be wary with new people or unfamiliar spaces, but with patience and kindness, he quickly blossoms into a loyal, affectionate companion. He would do best in a calm, understanding home where his quiet nature is respected and where he can feel secure.

Support and Health:

• Do I have any medical conditions? Existing conditions: Cashew has historic/current medical concerns, namely Otitis & waxy ear which has resolved and deafness, a head tilt and mild cystitis that will require consideration before he is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome this pet and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment.

Who I can live with:

• Can I live with dogs? Yes
• Can I live with cats? No
• Can I live with small pets? Yes
• Additional information: Could live with a calm cat-friendly dog. Small pets should be securely housed

Family and environment:

• What kind of family am I looking for? Cashew needs a calm and understanding home where his future owners are willing to be patient with his shyness and respect his space, especially whilst settling. Due to his timid nature we feel a home with children aged 13+ would be most appropriate.
• What type of environment would suit me? Cashew needs both need indoor and outdoor access. He will need access to a private garden. Due to being deaf, Cashew is looking for a home in a low traffic area.

Things to note: Cashew is currently living in a foster home and will be allocated a temporary unit at the centre on the day of book-out. Most cats find unfamiliar environments quite stressful and this can affect their behaviour in the cattery, meaning that you might not be able to observe what the cat’s temperament is typically like in a familiar setting. If you would like to meet this cat prior to rehoming, as a minimum you will be able to see the cat, but this may be the extent of the interaction depending on the cat’s response to the new environment.
