Dorcas is a wonderful lady who is looking to live the quiet life. Her name has lofty meanings from Ancient Greece to the Bible, but for us, a name like that would be right at home in a period drama. She is our very own little old lady with lots of wisdom to impart. She would make a great confidant, but don't take her for a fool as she will tell you off if she has too. She is the type of gal who will venture over to say hello but prefers a look don't touch to much approach. She'll happily rub around your legs and have the odd head scratch but just don't go overboard. If you respect her boundaries she'll happily permit you to feed her some tasty grub and give her lots of adoring looks. Oh Dorcas. You are a special girl, who needs a special someone to treat you with the love and respect you deserve.
Dorcas arrived back at Mayhew at the end of January after she was not quite suited to her previous home lifestyle. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance.
Dorcas has had a clean and polish of her teeth and they seem in good order at the minute. We have also noticed a stiff gate and that she can sometimes show some weakness in her hind limbs and sensitivity to being touched in certain areas. Due to her symptoms and age we suspect she has some osteoarthritis. She is currently having some on-going pain relief which should be reviewed with your own vet. She eats her meds in food and hopefully this will help ease any discomfort she is currently feeling.
If you think you could be Dorcas's purr-fect match, keep reading and consider visiting Mayhew to meet this special lady in person. She's ready to find that special someone who will treat her with the love and respect she deserves.
