Karma is an outgoing girl who always brings the good vibes! This confident 12 year 8 month old female cat arrived at Mayhew at the beginning of February after her owners were evicted and they could not find a home that meant they could stay together. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. Karma is keen to explore new environments and enjoys spending her time getting comfortable on the sofa or in her bed. She will happily bask in human attention and receive some fuss and strokes and loves to play with her favourite dangly toys.
Karma's back legs are a little different to other cats, but this does not stop her from living her best life. She has a long standing issue with her hind limbs where her backs legs are both quite stiff and she has limited flexibility in the legs themselves. It is unclear whether she was born with this condition or if it is the result of previous trauma. Importantly, she has adapted well and has a good quality of life and is still mobile and gets about just fine at present. Her foster carer shares: "I was worried that she would be very nervous and scared, especially with her mobility issues. Boy, was I wrong! Karma came to our home and within an hour, was ready to get out and about and was exploring the hallway and the living room in no time. She is confident and happy, and her disability does not seem to impede her much."
Karma is looking for a loving, slightly more grown up home which can cater to her needs and give her the very best care and attention. Her foster carer adds: "We just love Karma and how funny and sweet she is. We love seeing her playing with her toy that looks like a cheetah tail. We were so surprised by how animated Karma gets when chasing it and you can see she is a playful soul. She loves to hang out when people come to visit and is not at all fazed by new people. Within a week, she made herself so comfortable in our home and we will be so sad to see her go. Whichever home she goes to it will be a very lucky one!" So, if you're ready to get Karma Chameleon stuck in your head, then keep reading to see if you could be her purr fect match and give her the fur ever home she deserves.
Karma has a long standing issue with her hind limbs where her backs legs are both quite stiff and she has limited flexibility in the legs themselves. It is unclear whether she was born with this condition or if it is the result of previous trauma. Importantly, she has adapted well and has a good quality of life and is still mobile and gets about just fine at present. Potential adopters should be prepared to monitor this and continue to review her quality of life with their own vets and monitor for any signs of pain. She has had a clean and polish of her teeth which are all fine now. When we did blood test we noticed some mild anaemia. No further intervention is needed and she seems fine in herself and our vets are happy she is fine at present.
All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance.
